News For Living the Boating Dream
Chula Vista Marina Newsletter | MAY 2020 | San Diego Bay
*CANCELLED - Marine Gear Swap Meet - Saturday, May 2nd *
News from the Dockmaster
Well, Chula Vista Mariners, I know this is not the start to Spring that any of us expected. We’re all doing our best to stay positive, though. I have seen some awesome acts of kindness from our tenants down on the docks during these tough times. It truly is the boaters here that make CVM such a special place. I do know that we’re all going a little stir crazy and are ready to get back out on the bay and enjoy the boating lifestyle that we love, and we will. I truly believe that we WILL get through this!
I’m kind of secretly excited to see some of the awesome tan lines we’ll all have after we can stop wearing these ridiculous masks.  This is what I imagine we will all look like at the end of this!!  It’s a good look, I think.
I’ve been getting a lot of questions regarding our  Swap Meet . I know how many were disappointed that it had to be  postponed . As soon as we can, we’ll be re-scheduling the event. We’ll announce a new date for the Swap Meet, along with the other events that we have planned for 2020, in our newsletter. We rescheduled our first  ‘70s, ‘80s and ‘90s concert  until  Labor Day weekend . That can’t come soon enough! We’re not going to let anything stop us from having our good times! As Jimmy Buffet would say “I cannot change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination”. On that note, I’ll leave you with a little joke of the month.
How many boaters does it take to change a lightbulb?
None, because the right size bulb isn’t on board, the local marine-supply store doesn’t carry that brand, and the mail-order house has them on back-order . ?
See you on the Docks!

Welcome to Our New Mariners
Bruce Killebrew and Clarissa Durand  sailed in their beautiful 56’ Tayana  The Princess Lauren  from Marina Cortez;  Jacqueline Sayre  has returned with her awesome 46’ Hunter  Pocahontas  from Marina Del Rey;  Kelvin Scribner sailed in his very nice 37’ Tartan  Antelope  from Harbor Island West;  Rome Ventura  brought in her newly purchased 60’ Bluewater Yacht  Simpatico III  that was trucked in from out of state ; Julian and Leslie Maurer  purchased a nice 35’ Silverton  Mary Jane  that was here at CVM already . Welcome!
New CVM Tenant - "Dinghy Dock"
We’re opening up a slip at H1-29 to be used as a  Transient Dinghy Dock .  This slip sits at the base of the South Gate ramp (in front of the Dolphins Patio). This dinghy dock is  for Marina tenants only  and is strictly for  temporary dinghy parking . We’ll enforce a no-storage policy. If you need a day or two to get your dinghy out of your slip or prefer to zip around the Marina in your dinghy to get to the restaurant or Marina complex, then this will be perfect for you. It’s only for dinghies - -nothing larger than 13’ may be parked in this area. If you need a more permanent solution, we have in-water dinghy side ties available. Please contact the Marina office if you would like additional information about this new amenity we’re offering our tenants
While we are on the topic of dinghies, please take a couple minutes to ensure yours is not becoming a rainwater collector. We had a close call on H dock this month because of the amount of rainwater that had ended up in a dinghy Luckily, some awesome tenants noticed this and called the Marina office and even volunteered to help the owner pump it out .
Storage Units Available
Please stop by the office if you need a storage unit. We do not have them available often, and we now have  several storage units and restroom lockers available  right now. Please stop by the  Marina office  if you would like to take a look or get more information.
