News from the Dockmaster
Hello Chula Vista Mariners! I want to thank all those who came out and participated in our annual Baja haha Marine Gear Swap Meet. This swap meet was the best we have ever had due to an excellent number of sellers with some really useful gear. Not to mention we were lucky enough to miss the rain. If you happened to have missed it never fear as there is always next year! We will be having our Spring Season Swap Meet on Saturday May 4th, 2019. So mark it on your calendars now because it will be here in no time.
This brings me to my next topic: Winterizing your vessel! Don’t worry, I know how easy it is to forget about preparing for winter when we live in such a paradise called San Diego. But, as we do every year, we will have a couple of good storms that come our way. So, I recommend to take some time and
  • inspect your docklines for any fraying and/or tearing.
  • Check all bilge pumps to make sure you don’t accumulate any rainwater in the bilge.
  • Walk around your slip and make sure there are no stored items that could be blown into the water.
  • And lastly, please make sure all your sails are secure.

Every year we have a couple rogue sails that get caught in the wind and turn out to be a real danger and a headache for the boat owner. With just taking a few preventative steps, you will possibly save yourself time, frustation and money. Of course, our Friendly Staff and Security Guards will assist in keeping a good eye out for inclement weather to ensure your pride-and-joy is stored safely at the Chula Vista Marina. But even at that, you don’t want to get one of those middle-of-the-night calls asking you to come down and secure your sails.

For some of you, the change in season means less time spent on the boat. If you are someone who falls in that category, don’t forget about our awesome Concierge Program ran by Rigo Hernandez. For just $2.95 times the length of your boat per month, as a Chula Vista Marina Concierge Member, we will manage these services monthly for your convenience:
  • Professional boat wash
  • Bottom Cleaning done by Lighthouse Diving Services. Includes: shafts, rudder, props, out drives (+$20) and trim tabs
  • Pump Out by Neptune

This is a great way to keep your vessel in great shape. It’s also a relief knowing that when you’re away, your boat is being cared for and serviced monthly. If you are interested, please call the office, and we can get you in touch with Rigo, our amazing Concierge Service Rep.

See you on the Docks!

Robert Zimmerman, Dockmaster
