News from the Dockmaster
I know many of us our very concerned of the recent COVID-19 outbreak. The Marina has taken several steps to mitigate any issues at CVM. I sent out an email letting everyone know the steps we are taking. I know this may cause some inconvenience but know that we’re doing this for the benefit of you, our boaters. If you have any concerns with the new procedures, please call or email me and we can discuss.
On a lighter note, we are now in April, and things are starting to pick up at the Marina. We’re getting in new tenants and some awesome boats. Don’t be shy, introduce yourself if you come down and find you have a new neighbor. As our new boaters arrive, we need everyone’s   cooperation with our housekeeping rules - like keeping your things off the dock fingers so everyone has plenty of room to get on and off their boats safely. Please keep your dinghies out of slips that don’t belong to you.  Behind your boat when your using it is fine, but if you’re out in the fairway it’s a hazard for other boaters. Nothing is worse than coming in to your slip and trying to navigate around a dinghy or outboard that is sticking too far out into the channel. The Marina allows 3 feet of overhang from the slip. Please check your lines and double check that your vessel is not too far past the end of the slip. If you have any questions about your vessel’s overhang, please let the office know, and we’ll be happy to check and make sure that the overhang from the slip is acceptable.
See you on the Docks!

Friendly Reminders - Helpful Hints
We have seen it happen a couple of times over the years in the Marina office. A boat owner gets to the point where they cannot justify the cost of the slip fees, maintenance, nor the time needed to own a boat.  They decide to donate the boat to a nonprofit or charity – as they don’t want the hassle of selling the boat themselves.
Be very cautious if this is a decision that you make as not all charities are created equal. While there are some who truly do what is promised and ensure what is agreed upon is completed, unfortunately, there are some who have a reputation for just acting as a broker and selling the boat for whatever they can get. This is where the problem arises, since you, as the slip holder, are responsible for the slip fees until the boat leaves the Marina or until the new owner’s application is approved.  This means that if you donate your boat and you no longer are the owner, you are still responsible for the slip fees until the boat is taken out of the Marina . Now, that being said, there are a couple of organizations that have a good reputation and are involved in great charity work.
Just a word of caution - Do your research before making this decision.
Storage Units Available
Please stop by the office if you need a storage unit. We do not have them available often, and we now have  several storage units and restroom lockers available  right now. Please stop by the  Marina office  if you would like to look or get more information.
